Class Parent (All Year)

Class Parents work together to:

• Collect money for teacher and aide gifts (holiday and end-of-year)
• Share class contact information (as permitted)
• Help plan class parties (Halloween, Winter Holidays, Valentine's Day)
• Support Teacher Appreciation Week
• Collect donations for the major annual fundraiser

Two Class Parents are selected per class. Not everyone who volunteers will be chosen due to high interest. Preference goes to those who were not selected last year. At least one class parent from each class is expected to attend monthly HSA meetings and share updates with their classes.

Sixth Grade Committees (5th & 6th Grade Parents Only)***

Sixth Grade Graduation (Sept–June)

Help plan and fundraise for graduation. Fundraising is limited to three events (e.g., car washes, ice cream sales, popcorn sales).

• Fall and Spring car washes
• Other fundraiser - to be determined
• Coordinate end of year party
• Liaise with 6th grade teachers for other events

Sixth Grade Yearbook (Sept–June)

Assist with creating, designing, and purchasing the 6th grade yearbook and plan Yearbook breakfast for the class.

***Any 5th grade parent volunteering will be on an observation basis to learn for next year. 5th grade volunteers may be asked to assist with refreshments on graduation day.

After School Explorers (Fall & Spring)

Help coordinate after-school classes with vendors and the school. The ASE program is HSA-sponsored and provides fun and exciting after school classes for students who choose to participate in them. Enrollment is optional and classes are offered at a monetary cost.

• Determine offerings, pricing and registration set up
• Student check-in/check-out
• Class rosters
• Administrative and chaperone tasks

Basketball (Nov–Mar)

Chairs act as liaisons between OVHSA and the Bloomfield H&S Council Basketball Program. Responsibilities include:

• Organizing a parent information night
• Scheduling practices and clinics
• Supporting coaches with uniforms, schedules, and scrimmages
• Coordinating volunteers for home games
• Planning an in-school pep rally

Players consist of both boys and girls teams in 4th–6th grade and a 3rd grade co-ed Basketball Clinic.

Bulletin Boards (As Needed)

Decorate and maintain bulletin boards near the gym and front entrance. Designs should be updated at least three times per year. Up to three volunteers, including Chairperson.

Enrichment (All Year)

Help organize 5–9 assemblies or daytime enrichment programs. All programs require principal approval.

Fall Fundraiser (Oct/Nov)

Determine fundraiser based on targeted budget. Assist with distributing materials, processing orders, and coordinating product pickup based on fundraiser requirements. (Past events have included the Read-A-Thon, Cookie Dough Sales, Mums Sales, and Turkey Trot)

Fall Social (October)

Help plan a two-hour family social event. Past examples include Trunk or Treat.

Family Basketball Night (March)

Plan an end-of-season celebration for basketball players and their families, including pizza and trophies.

Finance (Fall & Spring)

Work with the Vice President and Treasurer to review non-budgeted expenses and conduct audits.

FUNraising (Ongoing)

Organize small community fundraisers (e.g., restaurant nights) where a portion of sales supports OVHSA.

Fun Friday (June)

Plan a full day of outdoor games and activities for the entire school held during school hours.

Garden Committees

Giving Garden (Fall & Spring)

Help maintain the school garden through planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, and caring for garden structures. Volunteers are especially needed in April, May, and over the summer.

School Grounds (Ongoing)

Assist with landscaping, cleanups, mulching, and planting around the school building.

Health & Wellness (March/April)

Support activities that promote physical and mental health, including Earth Day events and the Kindness Carnival.

Holiday Shop (December)

A one-day student shopping event. Volunteers help set up, assist students, run registers, and manage receipts.

Hospitality (Ongoing)

Assist with school events by:

• Purchasing supplies
• Setting up and cleaning up
• Supporting teacher luncheons and monthly snack events
• Helping maintain the Teacher Lounge kitchen

Library / Book Fair

Help library staff with book circulation and organization. Organize the Book Fair.

During Book Fair week, assist students while shopping and help with setup and cleanup.

Major Fundraiser (Spring)

OVHSA's largest fundraiser of the year, requiring several months of planning.

This year's event voted in by membership: Casino Night.

Membership (Ongoing)

Enroll members, collect dues, maintain membership lists, and provide updated rosters to the Executive Board.

Nominating Committee (2027 Election Year)

Distribute nomination forms, confirm nominees, count ballots, and announce results.

Up to five volunteers; committee members cannot run for Executive Board positions.

Online School Store (Ongoing)

Work with committee chairs to set up online registrations and run reports for banking and verification.

Playground Equipment (Ongoing)

Serve as a liaison between OVHSA and the school regarding playground and blacktop recess equipment. Work with the gym teacher to replenish items as needed.

Scholarship Committee (March 2027)

Help select recipients of OVHSA scholarships. Committee includes a Chairperson, two teachers, two committee members, and the Principal.

Someone Special Sale (May 2027)

Organize a plant sale held the Friday before Mother's Day. Volunteers help pot plants, run registers, and assist students.

Special Services

Serve as a liaison for Special Services programs and coordinate holiday and end-of-year gifts for ABA/SLLD staff.

Spirit Wear

Help design, order and sell Oak View apparel via online store and at designated school events.

Spring Social (May 2027)

Help plan a two-hour family social event. Past examples include Movie Night.

STREAM Event (January 2027)

Organize a showcase of student work in Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Art, and Math.

Talent Show - Arts Committee (March 2027)

Help organize the school talent show, including:

• Recruiting volunteers
• Coordinating grade-level “Class Acts”
• Communicating sign-up information and timelines
• Facilitate sound and lighting needs
• Coordinate ticket sales

Winter Social (February 2027)

Help plan a two-hour winter family event (e.g., Hot Cocoa Social, School Dance).

Winter/Spring Fundraiser

Determine fundraiser based on targeted budget. Assist with distributing materials, processing orders, and coordinating product pickup. (Past events have included the Color Run, Calendar Raffle and Read-a-thon).
